For Henry’s birthday weekend in February, I wanted to do something a little different. Everyone knows that I can’t pass up a good deal so when I saw a BOGO Airbnb offer, I jumped on it right away and booked a two night stay at some very unique accommodations.
We knew that the windy mountain roads meant that we should try to arrive while there’s still sunlight so I left work a little earlier that day. Henry kept trying to guess where we were going and he didn’t know what to expect.
Essentially, we camped in an old Airstream in someone’s backyard.
But the backyard spans many acres and had horses, dogs, goats, and chickens. It was like a mini-zoo. We even had a chance to sample fresh eggs one morning.
Although it was rustic, there was some electricity and warm water. We played board games late into the night and after many rounds of “Ticket to Ride,” Henry finally beat me once.
During the day, we explored nearby dog-friendly Leo Carrillo beach. There are very few dog friendly beaches in the LA area and thi one was the nicest we’ve seen so far. It isn’t an off-leash beach, though, but our Benji had plenty of fun anyway.
